Is Intermountain Health In-Network?

Insurance coverage at Intermountain hospitals across Utah and Nevada.

About Intermountain Health

Intermountain Health (formerly Intermountain Healthcare) is a nonprofit integrated health system that is the dominant provider in Utah and has a growing presence in Nevada and other Mountain West states. The system operates 33 hospitals, more than 385 clinics, and a health insurance arm called SelectHealth. Major facilities include Intermountain Medical Center in Murray (the flagship), LDS Hospital, Primary Children’s Hospital (a nationally ranked pediatric facility), McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, and St. George Regional Hospital in Southern Utah.

SelectHealth and Intermountain: The Integrated Model

Intermountain Health owns SelectHealth, a health insurance carrier that operates primarily in Utah and Idaho. SelectHealth plans are specifically designed around Intermountain’s provider network, which means SelectHealth members almost always have in-network access to Intermountain facilities. If you purchase a SelectHealth plan, network access to Intermountain is straightforward — the insurer and the system are the same organization.

For non-SelectHealth plans, Intermountain participates in most major commercial carrier networks in Utah, including BlueCross BlueShield of Utah (BCBS of Utah/Regence), Aetna, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare.

Intermountain in Nevada

Intermountain has expanded into Nevada through its 2022 merger with SCL Health and ongoing growth in the Las Vegas market. Cassia Regional Hospital (Burley, ID) and several Nevada facilities are now part of the Intermountain system. Network participation in Nevada may differ from Utah — confirm Nevada-specific coverage separately if you are seeking care at Intermountain facilities in the Silver State.

Primary Children’s Hospital and Insurance

Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City is Intermountain’s pediatric specialty hospital and one of the most comprehensive children’s hospitals in the Intermountain West. Most commercial plans that include Intermountain Health include Primary Children’s as part of the system, but confirm this specifically if you are seeking care for a child with complex or specialty medical needs.
